"Patron of Art Hommage à Friedrich II the Great" fountain pen. MONTBLANC, 1999. Limited edition. No. 2806/4810. Gold-plated metal and black precious resin. Retractable 18-karat (750) gold nib. Comes with the original case, outer box, and documentation. In good condition. This pen belongs to Montblanc’s Patron of Art Edition, a series dedicated to great historical figures associated with the patronage of the arts and culture. The “Hommage à Friedrich II the Great” edition was introduced in 1999 in two versions, limited to 4,810 and 888 pieces, respectively; this piece belongs to the first edition. The design evokes the figure of Frederick II of Prussia (1712–1786) through a deliberately understated and regal aesthetic. The gold-plated barrel is adorned with ornamental bands of interlaced arches, while the black resin end caps introduce the model’s hallmarks. One of its most distinctive features is the retractable 18-karat gold nib, engraved with the “Fredericus Rex” seal—a direct reference to the monarch.
