"Writers Edition William Faulkner" Set, MONTBLANC, 2007. Limited edition of 4,000 sets. Set consisting of a fountain pen, ballpoint pen, and mechanical pencil. Precious pearlescent brown resin and platinum-plated metal with ringed decoration. Fountain pen with an 18-karat (750) rhodium-plated gold nib. Comes with the original case, outer box, and documentation. New, never used. This set is part of the Writers Edition dedicated by Montblanc to William Faulkner in 2007 and is of particular interest because it brings together all three writing instruments from the series in a limited edition of 4,000 sets; the mechanical pencil was not sold separately. The bodies combine a pearlescent brown resin with large surfaces of finely ringed platinum-plated metal, a composition inspired by the Art Deco style of the 1920s and 1930s—the period during which Faulkner wrote some of his most important works. The alternation between the metal surfaces and the dark resin gives the pieces a distinct visual rhythm, while the writer’s signature is integrated into the caps. The pen features an 18-karat gold nib decorated with a biplane, a nod to Faulkner’s well-known passion for aviation. The fountain pen uses a piston-fill system.
