Female figure. Roman Empire, 2nd–3rd centuries A.D. Terracotta. Measurements: 18 x 5 x 4 cm. Provenance: Family bequest from Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Archaeological collection assembled beginning in the 1950s by successive generations of the family through purchases at European galleries and auction houses. This piece previously belonged to the O.C. Collection (Madrid). A terracotta sculpture depicting a female figure, with her hand placed in front of her chest and her gaze directed straight ahead. The passage of time has smoothed her features to such an extent that it is difficult to identify her with certainty; she is likely to be some goddess (probably not Venus) or an empress.
