Votive ram figurine. Syrian-Hittite culture, 2000–1750 B.C. Terracotta. Provenance: G. Elías Collection. Measurements: 6.5 x 3 x 5.5 cm; 2.5 x 4.5 x 7 cm (base). Provenance: Family bequest of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Archaeological collection assembled beginning in the 1950s by successive generations of the family through acquisitions at European galleries and auction houses. This piece previously belonged to the G. Elías Collection. Terracotta figure depicting a quadruped with coiled horns on top of its head, identified as a ram despite the high degree of idealization and simplification of its features. It is very likely that it served a votive purpose, and it resembles other finds from the Indus Valley.
