MAURICE LACROIX Automatic Chronograph, Ref. 67668. Switzerland. Stainless steel wristwatch with automatic chronograph. 37 mm round case with polished and satin-finished surfaces, smooth bezel, fluted crown at 3 o’clock, and two rectangular pushers for the chronograph functions. Satin-finished silver dial with black Arabic numerals, central sword-style hands, and a blue central chronograph seconds hand. Three sub-dials: 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock, small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, and 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. Dual calendar with day-of-the-week indicator at 3 o’clock and date displayed through a window integrated into the 6 o’clock sub-dial. Precision minute track around the perimeter. Swiss self-winding mechanical movement based on the Valjoux 7750 caliber, with 25 jewels and adjusted in five positions, as indicated by the engravings on the movement. Case back with a transparent window allowing a view of the movement and its Maurice Lacroix-signed oscillating weight. Original dark blue leather strap with blue stitching, the brand’s metal emblem, and a buckle clasp. It works, but it needs servicing. Measurements: 37 mm (case diameter, excluding crown). Provenance: Family bequest of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. An art and heritage collection whose origins lie in the legacy of the Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a key figure in 19th-century Catalan realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched over successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original estates of both artists, along with new acquisitions made by their descendants. They maintained a special dedication to the preservation and restoration of the family legacy, acquiring works by the painters themselves as they came onto the market and progressively expanding the collection with paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other objects of artistic and historical interest. During the final decades of the 20th century, Maurice Lacroix established itself as a leading name in Swiss watchmaking, distinguished by its commitment to mechanical movements, the quality of its craftsmanship, and the development of collections that combined watchmaking tradition with contemporary design. Its growing specialization in mechanical complications—particularly through the Masterpiece line—helped solidify its reputation among enthusiasts of traditional watchmaking. This automatic chronograph features a movement based on the famous Valjoux 7750, developed in 1973 and now one of the most recognized chronograph architectures in modern Swiss watchmaking. Its construction—featuring an integrated chronograph, a cam-driven system, and bidirectional automatic winding—constitutes a mechanical solution particularly valued for its robustness and ease of maintenance. This particular piece also features a five-position adjustment indicator, a technical refinement designed to optimize the movement’s rate stability. In the watch descriptions, the phrase “it works” means that the watch is functioning. Since collector’s watches typically have delicate and complex mechanisms, the buyer is responsible for any general servicing, inspection, battery replacement, adjustment, or repair that may be necessary. We do not guarantee the perfect functioning of any watch. All photographs of our watches are original and were taken by our photographers; in other words, we do not use stock photography, which is why the photographs are considered part of the listing.
