HERALD CHRONOGRAPHE Watch. Chronograph wristwatch, 1940s–1950s. 18-karat yellow gold case, hallmarked. Circular champagne-colored dial with applied Arabic numerals, blade-style hands, and a central chronograph seconds hand. Red tachymeter scale around the perimeter. Bicompax chronograph configuration, with two subsidiary dials located at 3 and 9 o’clock. Fluted crown at 3 o’clock, flanked by two rectangular pushers for operating the chronograph. Hand-wound mechanical movement with 17 jewels. Non-original leather strap and metal buckle. It works, though it needs servicing. Shows signs of wear and a patina consistent with its age, with some wear on the dial. Total weight: 49 g. Measurements: 40 x 45 mm. Provenance: Family bequest of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. An art and heritage collection whose origins lie in the legacy of the Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a key figure in 19th-century Catalan realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched over successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original estates of both artists, along with new acquisitions made by their descendants. They remained particularly dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the family legacy, acquiring works by the painters themselves as they came onto the market and gradually expanding the collection with paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other objects of artistic and historical interest.
