JOAQUIM TERRUELLA MATILLA (Barcelona, 1891–1957). “Seascape.” Oil on panel. Signed in the lower left corner. With a Sala Parés label on the back. Measurements: 23.5 x 28 cm; 25.5 x 29.5 cm (frame). Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. Joaquim Terruella Matilla was a Catalan painter and draftsman associated with the Catalan landscape tradition rooted in Impressionism. A nephew and student of Segundo Matilla, he was also directly influenced by Santiago Rusiñol, with whom he traveled to Italy in 1923 and shared a working residency in Aranjuez. He began his career with solo exhibitions in Barcelona in 1916 and later presented his work at leading venues such as the Sala Parés and the Sala Gaspar, in addition to exhibiting in Madrid, Paris, and other French cities. Although he also took a special interest in bullfighting themes (he even worked as an illustrator for *El Día Gráfico* and *La Noche*), landscape painting occupied a central place in his body of work. His works are held in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, and the Provincial Museum of Lugo.
