CHENARD & WALCKER - c.1930 “For sale here” Very rare original, single-sided, flat enamel advertising sign cut in the shape of a coat of arms or car grille. 85 x 54 cm. “Email-Alsacienne” Remarkable condition— for this sign with its vivid, luminous colors, retaining its superb original luster. The depth of the navy blue background creates a striking contrast that perfectly highlights the yellow illustration and lettering. The design is perfectly preserved, showing only subtle chips from normal wear around the perimeter fasteners and minute surface micro-scratches. This striking design with clean lines majestically showcases the mascot—an eagle with outstretched wings—which dominates the advertising composition featuring the prestigious Chenard & Walcker brand. Founded in 1899 by Ernest Chenard and Henry Walcker in Asnières-sur-Seine before relocating to Gennevilliers. As the fourth-largest national automaker by volume in the early 1920s, the company cemented its place in motorsports history by winning the very first 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923 thanks to its cutting-edge models.
