CHENARD & WALCKER - c.1910 Rare and significant original single-sided flat enamel advertising sign cut in the shape of a car radiator grille. 115 x 74.5 cm. “Email.Ed.Jean” A rare version characterized by the presence of its radiator cap, an element that is almost always missing. The vibrancy of the luminous colors is remarkable, offering a striking contrast between its superb deep blue and the yellow, both with optimal luster. The overall condition is superb despite a few minor chips from wear along the upper edge and a tiny original firing flaw in the lower left corner. This striking design majestically showcases the mascot—an eagle with outstretched wings—which dominates the advertising composition featuring the prestigious Chenard & Walcker brand. Founded in 1899 by Ernest Chenard and Henry Walcker in Asnières-sur-Seine before relocating to Gennevilliers. As the fourth-largest national automaker by volume in the early 1920s, the company cemented its place in motorsports history by winning the very first 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923 thanks to its cutting-edge models.
