DEERING TRACTORS - c.1930 Very rare original double-sided, die-cut lithographed sheet metal advertising sign depicting a DEERING tractor. Generous size: 90 x 60 cm. “G.De.Andreis & Cie – Marseille” A fine double-sided specimen— The front side features well-preserved colors and a beautiful sheen; there are scattered traces of oxidation, superficial scratches, and slight localized warping along the edges. The reverse side shows overall fading due to exposure, with more subdued colors and a duller appearance, accompanied by wear scratches and minor oxidation. There are three minor perforations along the edges. Overall, the coin retains a very fine period patina and good structural rigidity. Officially founded in 1879 in Chicago, Illinois (USA), William Deering & Co. quickly established itself as the global technological leader in harvesters before its historic 1902 merger, orchestrated by J.P. Morgan, which created the giant International Harvester Company (IHC) with a colossal capital of $120 million. The U.S. federal antitrust act of 1917 subsequently forced the company to consolidate its distribution networks in 1923 under the McCormick Deering brand name, giving rise to the brand’s first tractor models.
