UNIQUE CZECH COUNTERTOP TOOTHPICK DISPENSER - c.1930 Rare, original enameled promotional countertop dispenser with a nickel-plated metal base, originally from Czechoslovakia. 18 x 14.5 x 4.5 cm. This highly ingenious semi-automatic dispenser features a lifting mechanism that dispenses a toothpick simply by turning its central knob engraved with “Drehen” (turn); it is reloaded via a push button at the base that opens one of the sides. A true testament to interwar commerce in Plzeň, featuring prestigious local advertisements: “La Voix de son Maître” records, Frant. Procházka radios and gramophones, V. Dobrý, Karel Sokol bus transportation and excursions, Milan Žuvanč laundry, A. Houdy’s pharmacy and photography supplies, Houdalin polishes and varnishes, as well as Mansfeldová u Friedmannů stockings and tights.
