DUNLOP STATION - c.1930 Rare, complete original promotional master clock from a gas station/garage. 45 x 24 x 13.5 cm. “Non-transferable and unseizable property of the DUNLOP Company – Delarue-Nouvellière” Presented in its original wooden case topped with an embossed metal plaque reading “Dunlop Station,” this model features a lithographed cardboard sign under glass displaying the tire pressure chart “Tires with Valves… ”. The clock, featuring an enameled dial marked “Électrique Brillié” on its intact marble base, is complete (untested) with its original pendulum. Rare due to its cardboard sign—which is often missing—the sign has suffered normal sun fading from its historical display, and the red color of the figure has faded. It will be shipped with its components disassembled/separated (case, marble base, and pendulum) to prevent any damage during transport. A master clock is a high-precision central timepiece that sends electrical pulses to synchronize and simultaneously advance a network of remote secondary clocks within the same building. Founded in 1889 in Ireland by John Boyd Dunlop, the inventor of the modern pneumatic tire, the brand has partnered here with French watchmaking excellence by incorporating a precision clock system from the prestigious Brillié company (founded in 1898 in Levallois, famous for supplying clocks to major government agencies and SNCF train stations).
