NICOLAS WINES - c.1930 By Charles LOUPOT - Rare original figurative promotional bottle stopper made of zamac, depicting the famous stylized head of Nectar the delivery man. 10 cm tall (including cork). In very good condition - Features good original colors, perfectly preserved with a nice sheen. The head is securely and firmly attached to its period cork stopper. The metal alloy shows no signs of impact or cracks. There are very subtle color variations, which are perfectly integrated and stable, having no impact on the legibility of the design. A piece preserved in a beautiful state of freshness and authenticity. This original advertising piece stands out for its purely Cubist and geometric design, with the sharp edges characteristic of the aesthetic overhaul carried out by the poster artist Charles Loupot. It features its original three-tone color scheme: red, white, and gray. An absolute classic of Art Deco-era advertising art. Founded in Paris in the 19th century by Louis Nicolas, a former soldier, the company revolutionized the retail industry by selling quality bottled wine. Its advertising success took root in 1922 with the creation of its emblem: the “Nectar” deliveryman. Designed by Dransy and likely inspired by a company employee named “Le Paven” (pictured here), this popular character—who embodies the pleasure of wine—offers home delivery. The silhouette of this timeless mascot was radically streamlined in an Art Deco style in 1927 by the famous poster artist Charles Loupot. Île-de-France The black-and-white photograph, not included in the sale, is an integral part of the description and serves as a useful illustration of the lot.
