VELTEN BEER - c. 1930 Rare, original, flat enamel advertising sign with raised edges. 68 x 38 cm. “Emaillerie Alsacienne Strasbourg” In very good condition— The colors are superbly preserved, with vivid, rich, and particularly luminous reds. The entire surface retains its optimal luster. There are only very subtle, localized imperfections, mainly at three corners, as well as a minor chip on the letter “È” in the word “bière.” A few very faint surface scratches are also visible on the central illustration. - A fine specimen. - The design features a 17th-century horseman, a classic figure in popular imagery. This illustration evokes the atmosphere of an old-fashioned inn, symbolizing historical tradition and the pleasures of a convivial stop. In 1880, Eugène Sébastien Velten, an Alsatian brewer in Marseille, founded the Grande Brasserie du Midi (Brasseries de la Méditerranée) and opened the Saint-Rambert plant (Lyon) in 1881. In 1939, in response to the economic crisis, the Rinck, Royale, Winckler, and Velten brands merged to form the Société des Brasseries Lyonnaises. Velten then closed its Marseille facility to concentrate all production in Saint-Rambert. Bouches-du-Rhône/PACA Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
