UNIC / GFA TRUCKS - c.1945 Rare, original, double-sided, diamond-shaped enamel advertising sign. For trucks. 99.6 x 65.7 cm. “Vitracier Neuhaus” Rare version featuring the “GFA” inscription - In very good condition - The reds are vibrant and perfectly preserved. The original luster is beautifully preserved on both sides. Note: there are very slight chips in the enamel at the mounting points, which do not affect the appearance. Founded in Puteaux in March 1905 by Georges Richard and Baron Henri de Rothschild, the Unic brand owes its name to its founding concept: a unique, robust chassis with interchangeable parts. This reliability immediately made it the leader among Parisian taxis and a benchmark in the passenger car industry. In July 1938, Unic ceased production of passenger cars to focus exclusively on heavy-duty trucks. It was acquired by Simca in 1952. Integrated into Fiat in 1966, then a founding member of Iveco in 1975, the French emblem disappeared permanently from vehicle grilles in 1984. Hauts-de-Seine/Île-de-France The Générale Française Automobile (GFA) was an economic interest group created in April 1941 to overcome wartime shortages. This state-run consortium brought together the French automakers Bernard, Delahaye, Laffly, Simca, and Unic to streamline national production. The GFA was permanently dissolved in the early 1950s with the return to a free market. The black-and-white photographs, which are not included in the sale, are an integral part of the description and serve as a useful illustration of the lot.
