- BERGER 45 Pin-UP - c. 1940–50 “Miss BERGER - Any” Original lithographed advertising sheet metal cut into the shape of a pin-up. 46 cm high. Illustration based on a design by Raymond Ducatez (not credited) - In good overall condition - Features very vibrant colors and a beautiful sheen. Some minor surface imperfections and very subtle creases, mainly along the top and bottom edges. Berger, a brand originating from the distillery founded in 1830 in Couvet (Switzerland) by Charles-Frédéric Berger, flourished in the 19th century with a renowned and award-winning absinthe. In 1878, his sons established themselves in Marseille, where the company experienced significant growth, registering the trademark in 1892 and expanding internationally. After absinthe was banned (in 1915 in France), the brand shifted its focus to anise-flavored aperitifs in the 1920s, giving rise to the famous “Berger.” It is now owned by the MBWS (Marie-Brizard & Wine Spirits) group in Bordeaux.
