A cascade of mesmerizing tiles that makes one “Fou de Kohler.” KOHLER was founded in Lausanne in 1817 under the name “Amédée Kohler et fils”; the company began specializing in chocolate in 1830 under the leadership of Charles-Amédée Kohler, the inventor of hazelnut chocolate. After relocating to Échandens at the end of the 19th century, the company was led by Jean-Jacques Kohler. In 1904, it merged with Daniel Peter to form the “Société Générale Suisse de Chocolats Peter et Kohler réunis,” simultaneously partnering with Nestlé to produce its milk chocolate. After incorporating the Cailler company in 1911, this major Swiss chocolate alliance was definitively absorbed by the Nestlé Group in 1929. (Source: “chocolat Suisse émaillé”—D. Foletti, D. Marzoli)
