PEPSI-COLA - c. 1950–60 “Long Live Skiing and Pepsi” Original enameled promotional thermometer with “ears” and a yellow background. 97 x 30 cm. In very good condition. - Featuring a surface with optimal luster and no chipping, it shows only tiny, scattered pinholes of oxidation, each about the size of a pinhead. While slight sun exposure has slightly faded the reds, the enamel remains remarkable, the other colors are vibrant, and the item retains its four original brass eyelets. The glass tube is present, but the temperature scale no longer functions; the piece remains very clean and looks stunning. The Pepsi-Cola brand was created in 1893 by pharmacist Caleb Bradham; it was officially named Pepsi-Cola in 1898 and registered with the USPTO (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) on June 16, 1903. It became a global brand before forming the PepsiCo group in 1965. New Bern, North Carolina
