BOULEDOGUE ABSINTHE PITCHER - c. 1910 Original absinthe pitcher made of light brown glazed stoneware, shaped like a bulldog’s head. 22.5 cm tall. Manufactured by “Duborjal – Paris. Registered.” - Superb condition - No defects to report (no cracks or chips). The glaze, thick and well-defined, offers remarkable contrast, with a perfect gradient from light brown to dark brown. Decorated with flowers. A piece that has remained intact for over a century. Renowned for the excellence and sturdiness of its products, the Duborjal factory embodies the quintessence of utilitarian and bistro stoneware from the Belle Époque. Its industrial expansion in Pantin beginning in 1905 was driven in particular by prestigious advertising orders from the major Parisian distilleries of the time (notably the absinthe pitchers for the Delizy-Doistau company). An engraved mark or the original “Duborjal Paris” signature: a guarantee of authenticity of France’s ceramic heritage.
