LA PERDRIX SOAP - c.1920 Signed “Edouard Bernard.” Rare original lithographed advertising card. 39.5 x 29.5 cm. “Devambez, printer—Paris; after Camis, printer” On this original document, the Devambez printing house reproduces the poster published by the Camis printing house in 1910. In very fine condition. - It stands out for the remarkable vibrancy of its colors, which remain deep, vivid, and perfectly preserved. The piece, complete with its period illustration, constitutes the rigid flap of a menu holder that originally had two flaps. An iconic symbol of colonial advertising and the industrial heritage of the Gironde region, “La Perdrix” soap was created by the Compagnie générale de l’Afrique française, founded on July 7, 1911, at 4 Rue Esprit-des-Lois in Bordeaux, following the takeover of Établissements M. Plantey et Cie. Led by Eugène Lecocq, this import-export company specializing in fats from sub-Saharan Africa operated its own oil mill and soap factory on Rue Farvarque in Bègles (developed in partnership with the Lagrolet factories). This site, the exclusive manufacturing location for soap, would double its production after the war with the Perdro and Germinal product lines. Gironde/Nouvelle-Aquitaine
