L.A.PRICE - c.1940 “Conserveries de France” Remarkable original polychrome advertising plaster cast. 31.5 x 18.5 x 7 cm Depicts the iconic little chef from the L.A. Price tomato paste brand, accompanied by a vintage mock tin can with paper wrapping. In very good overall condition— The original polychrome paint is beautifully preserved, revealing vibrant colors and superb vibrancy. This advertising plaster figure is an original piece from the period. It was traditionally crafted from plaster and a hemp-fiber frame—a characteristic technique that serves as absolute proof of its authenticity and the era in which it was created. L.A. PRICE succeeded the Pellier Frères cannery, the largest employer in La Turballe, founded in 1841 and linked to mayors Alfred and René Pellier. Taken over by Louis Biret under the name La Catalane, the factory later adopted the Bordeaux-based brand L.A. Price (a trading house specializing in high-end condiments and canned goods) to expand its exports. Later incorporated into the Conserveries de France group, the factory closed in 1960.
