PEUGEOT - c. 1926–30 “Cycles et Motos” Rare original single-sided advertising sign made of thermoformed plastic, with embossed lettering. 46 x 25.5 cm. A particularly rare model due to its dual mention of “Cycles et Motos”; the majority of known examples, which are enameled, bear the word “automobiles.” Good condition—colors well preserved and thermoformed material undamaged. Two hanging holes at the top, rimmed with original brass. A few areas where the navy blue color is missing along the edge and a very subtle perforation on the upper edge. Founded in 1810 by brothers Jean-Pierre and Jean-Frédéric Peugeot as a steelworking business, the Lion brand became a global pioneer in mobility by the end of the 19th century under the leadership of Armand Peugeot. This adventure was masterfully illustrated on two wheels with the success of Cycles Peugeot beginning in 1882—which would go on to claim ten victories in the Tour de France— and the rise of its motorcycles starting in 1898, from the high-performance P515 to the iconic 103 moped.
