Impressionist winter landscape A hilly, snow-covered landscape with scattered bare trees beneath a brilliant blue sky, the paint is applied using alternating brushstrokes, deliberately left partially incomplete in places, so that the orange undercoat shines through, creating a warm winter atmosphere; the landscape is given structure by a few confidently drawn contour lines in dark blue; oil on linen, mounted on cardboard and folded over, early 20th century, label on the reverse from the Düsseldorf-based ‘Schoenfeld & Co. Malerfarben- und Maltuchfabrik’, beautiful gilded Impressionist frame, inner dimensions approx. 19.5 x 25.5 cm.
