Henri Goetz, Abstract Composition abstract composition featuring plant-like and geometric elements in shades of green, blue and brown; slightly impasto painting with a partially vigorous brushstroke; oil on fleece-like fabric, second half of the 20th century, signed ‘Goetz’ lower right, slight signs of ageing, unframed, approx. 50.5 x 61 cm. Artist information: born Henri Bernard Goetz, French-American surrealist painter and engraver (1909, New York - 1989, Nice), studied art at Harvard and in New York, later attended the ‘Académie Julian’ and the ‘Grande Chaumière’, acquired French citizenship in 1949; inventor of the carborundum technique; friends included Arp, Picasso and Kandinsky, among others; source: the internet.
