Josef Haunstetter, Girl in the Chicken Yard A sunny, summery spot on a rustic farm with a farm girl under a mighty deciduous tree, feeding the chickens; a genre painting executed in glazes, with some areas of slight impasto, oil on canvas, signed and dated ‘Josef Haunstetter 1936’ in the lower left-hand corner; on the reverse of the stretcher, an old, illegibly inscribed label and a stamp from an art supplies shop; on the frame, an old Munich framing label, minor signs of ageing, very beautifully set in a gilded stucco frame (dented), inner dimensions approx. 98 x 73.5 cm.
