Istvan Boldizsar, View of a Park framed by the rear ends of houses; an avenue emerging from the gap between the houses on the left; figures and two cars in the foreground; a mountainous landscape in the background; an Impressionist work reminiscent of Renoir, oil on canvas mounted on board, framed behind glass, signed lower left, remnants of an old customs stamp on the reverse, very solid and wide frame with dents, inner dimensions approx. 77.5 x 97 cm. Artist information: Hungarian painter and graphic artist (1897 in Orosháza - 1984 in Budapest); trained at the Academy in Budapest under István Réti; from 1920 to 1923 a pupil at Sándor Kubinyi’s private school in Munich; member of the Nagybánya artists’ colony (now in Romania) under János Thorma; from 1941, professor of drawing at the Academy in Budapest; bronze medal at the 1929 World Exhibition in Barcelona; winner of the 1930 Zichy Prize for copyists; his style was closely aligned with that of the French Impressionists; source: the internet.
