Fritz Chwala, Summer Alpine Landscape Mountain lake with a rowing boat and a tree-surrounded building set against a rugged Alpine massif; a landscape painting characterised by glazing and a slightly impasto technique; oil on canvas, mounted, c. 1900, signed ‘Fritz Chwala’ lower left, signs of age, newly framed, inner dimensions approx. 70.5 x 95 cm. Artist information: real name Friedrich Chvála, Austrian landscape painter (1872 Vienna - 1936 Vienna), son of the painter Adolf Chwala (1836-1900), received his first painting lessons from his father, studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, undertook a study trip to Norway, worked in Vienna, source: AKL, Toman, Fuchs, *Die österreichischen Maler des 19.
