after Paul Joseph Bardou, *The Virtuous Nun* in the centre, a nun in a white robe at prayer; to her right, a man in Eastern European dress (reminiscent of the Tatars) with a sword; in the background, a monastery complex, to the left, towards the rear, with a view into a chapel containing a sculpture of the Virgin Mary and Child; above the entrance, the inscription ‘CASTA SIT DOMINI SPONSA’; a copy after a painting by Paul Joseph Bardou in the National Museum in Waschau, oil on wood, unsigned, the reverse side parquet-patterned, A note containing biographical information on the artist Paul Joseph Bardou (portrait and genre painter from Berlin, 1745-1815), two brass or bronze plaques (each approx. 5 cm high) depicting Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI (comparable plaques in a slightly larger format were sold at the Mehis auction house; see Mehlis Plauen, Auction 103, 26-28 August 2021, Lot 3770), in need of minor restoration, retouching, frame dented, inner dimensions 57 x 35.5 cm.
