Southern Landscape with Bridge and Shepherds two shepherds by the path, a small bridge to the left, a massive rock behind it, in the background to the right a vast landscape at sunset, a work rich in colour, Dutch, 17th century, oil on canvas, inscribed ‘Both f.’ on a stone at the centre bottom; on the reverse, an old auction label attributing the work to Jan Both; lined, restored, retouched; gold stucco frame with a plaque attributing the work to Jan Both; inner dimensions 70 x 85 cm. The painting is listed twice in RKDLite: once as a work attributed to Jan Both (RKDLite No. 196857) and once as ‘Anonymous, 17th-century Dutch School’ (RKDLite No. 194569).
