This is a copy after Lucas Cranach the Elder, who created various versions of the motif of the mismatched couple, this version resembles the one from the Royal Picture Gallery in Dresden, which, after various twists and turns, was auctioned on the Munich art market in 2023; there are further copies and imitations of this motif (an overview can be found in the Corpus Cranach under the keyword ‘the old man in love’, where there are at least six copies after Cranach), oil on wood, unsigned, in urgent need of restoration, wooden frame dented, dimensions 42.5 x 26 cm.
