Crucifixion scene after Louis de Caullery A scene depicting the Crucifixion of Christ on Golgotha with numerous figures; in the foreground, a horseman on a white horse in magnificent attire, modelled on a work by the Flemish artist Louis de Caullery (alternatively Caulery or Coulery, active from c. 1580 in Caulery until 1621 in Antwerp), which now hangs in the Prado in Madrid; several 17th-century copies of varying quality can be traced back to this work, some of which probably also originated from his workshop, it is possible that this painting is identical to a variant that was sold on 25-26 October 1955 at a Brussels auction house as a work attributed to Maerten de Vos (see RKDLite, no. 704100), oil on wood, unsigned, signs of age, restored, inner dimensions 50 x 34 cm.
