Hermann Kätelhön, collection of prints two woodcuts mounted on passe-partout, one of which depicts a mining scene, and a landscape etching framed behind glass; each work signed in lead ‘Hermann Kätelhön’, circa 1920, varying conditions, maximum dimensions approx. 49.5 x 37 cm. Artist information: German draughtsman, ceramist and printmaker (1884 Hofgeismar - 1940 Munich), spent his youth in Marburg; 1903-05 a pupil at the Karlsruhe School of Art; studied 1905-07 at the Munich Academy under Peter von Halm; first stayed at the Willingshausen artists’ colony in 1908 and resided there permanently from 1910 to 1916, where he was a pupil of Carl Bantzer and Wilhelm von Thielmann, In 1917, he moved to Essen-Margaretenhöhe, later to Wamel and Munich; he was a member of the German Artists’ Association in Weimar, the German Werkbund and the Free Association of Darmstadt Artists; source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Dressler, Bantzer, *Hessen in German Painting*, the Munich Academy’s register and the internet.
