Peter Stammen, Girl dated 1910, signed ‘P. Stammen’ on the side, foundry mark ‘R. Ruckert’ on the reverse - Düsseldorf, bronze with a light brown patina, a little girl holding the ends of her hair with both hands, on a cube-shaped plinth, very slight superficial signs of ageing, H 27 cm. Artist’s biography: German sculptor (1886, Krefeld - 1958, Düsseldorf), studied at the Krefeld School of Applied Arts, the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main and the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Art; created figurative sculptures, monuments and fountain installations; known for his works in public spaces; a representative of representational sculpture of the early 20th century.
