Joseph Humplik, Woman Walking with a Panther c. 1910, signed on the plinth, foundry mark Arthur Rubinstein Vienna, bronze with a light patina, female half-nude, lower body draped in a flowing cloth, balancing a hissing panther on her shoulder, on an oblong plinth, mounted on an onyx base, the latter with very minor chips, H bronze 22 cm, total height 26 cm. Artist information: Sculptor, painter, medallist and graphic artist from Vienna (1888-1958); his focus was on portrait busts and works in stone, metal and wood; he worked at the Burgtheater and for the Augarten porcelain manufactory; his significant works include, amongst others, the death mask of Adolf Loos (1933) and portrait busts of numerous contemporaries.
