Reception of Antiquity: Pair of Riace Warrior Statues 20th century, bronze with a brown patina, Depiction of the so-called Riace Warriors, which were discovered in 1972 near the marina of Riace in the Italian region of Calabria by a diver; the originals date from the 5th century BC and are housed in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Reggio Calabria; the originals are almost two metres tall, Nude figures wearing helmets and presumably originally holding spears, on cast stone plinths, covered in verdigris; height of each bronze figure approx. 31 cm, total height approx. 40.5 cm.
