Silver jardinière, Historicist style circa 1900, silver hallmarked 800, crescent, crown, maker’s mark indistinct, probably Gebrüder Deyhle, Schwäbisch Gmünd, owner’s monogram ‘EDA’ engraved on plaques mounted on both sides, ligated with the years 1878-1903 and 23 April, as well as the inscription: “Dedicated by the entire staff of the firm Fr.(anz) David Söhne’ (now Halloren Schokoladenfabrik in Halle/Saale), gilded on the inside, heavy insert of colourless glass with a ground star, serrated rim and all-round notched decoration; jardinière resting on four suggested feet, richly decorated with vertical ribbing, festoons, bows and stylised acanthus leaves; signs of age and wear; insert with small chips; L 46 cm; silver weight approx. 1039 g.
