Early Bayreuth ladies’ beer mug c. 1728-1744, monogrammed B.K./P, light faience body with a whitish glaze, painted or sponged with cobalt blue high-fire pigment; architectural motif on the front, stylised flowers with birds and trees on the sides, original domed, overlapping pewter lid with a shell-shaped push-button and the owner’s monogram ‘M.E.’ as well as delicate ornamental engraving; a hairline crack at the rim; signs of wear and age with flaking glaze; H 14 cm.
