KPM Berlin tureen ‘Breslauer Stadtschloss’ from a dinner service, designed by Friedrich Elias Meyer in 1767 on commission from Frederick II of Prussia for the City Palace in Breslau, underglaze blue sceptre and red orb marks 1870-1945, first-grade quality, with embossed and brush marks as well as a year mark for 1921; ‘Rocaille’ shape, oval, bulbous body with relief decoration, applied rose tendrils on both corners and a sculpted putto holding fruit as the lid knob, magnificently decorated with bouquets of flowers and flowering branches in fine polychrome overglaze painting, royal blue scale mosaic, colour and gold accents, and a gold rim; partially and expertly restored, H 29 cm, L 38 cm.
