KPM Berlin sumptuous potpourri vase Designed c. 1768, recast by Alexander Kips c. 1885, sceptre mark 1870-1945, assembled in two parts, a so-called ‘reed vase’ in white porcelain; the baluster-shaped body features a band of bows in relief running all the way round and partly sculpted foliage on the round foot and shoulder, both reed-bundle handles flanked by floral decoration, and a crowning bouquet of peonies on the openwork domed lid; the underside of the plinth shows firing cracks; the floral decoration has minimal, barely visible chipping; H 43 cm.
