Sèvres small portrait bowl “Duchesse du Maine” dated 1782, blue brush mark with the letters ‘ee’ and the painter’s mark ‘D’, engraving number 34 and brush inscription “D.sse du-maine”, oval base bowl with a double-curved rim and a glazed “bleu céleste” background, in the centre a tondo with a portrait of a woman in fine polychrome overglaze painting, a bust of Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon, Duchess of Maine after her marriage (1676-1753), framed by an etched gold cartouche, A pearl necklace composed of red and white enamelled jewels, a polychrome laurel wreath and floral gold painting, with gold decoration, gold borders and a gold rim; the gilding and motif show minimal wear, otherwise in good condition for its age, L 18 cm.
