3206 - Six ceremonial plates in the Old Viennese style

Six ceremonial plates in the Old Viennese style Thuringia or Bohemia, c. 1900, one bearing the monogram ‘AJ.’ within the design, stamped with the beehive mark (Bindenschild), engraved and painted markings, smooth, slightly concave form, royal blue glazed background with a central oval reserve, containing polychrome overglaze decoration, mostly depicting mythological scenes based on paintings, including ‘The Muses Clio, Euterpe and Thalia’ after Eustache Le Sueur, ‘Venus presenting Aeneas with Vulcan’s weapons’ after Pompeo Girolamo Batoni, water nymphs with Pan (a satyr) and ‘Boys Playing Dice’ after Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, all surrounded by matching ornamental gold painting with gold and white enamel dots; in good condition for its age; D 19 cm each.
