KING’S BODYGUARD FLINTLOCK RIFLE, Type 1. Round barrel with traces of bluing, weathered, featuring thunder-cut panels, engraved with the “Coat of Arms of France” and “King’s Bodyguard,” as well as three hallmarks. “Drum-type” lock engraved “Manufre Rle de Charleville.” Round-bodied hammer. Brass drum-shaped trigger guard. All screws guilloché-engraved. Brass fittings. Iron hammer and ramrod. Trigger guard engraved with a fleur-de-lis toward the front, as is the butt plate. Light walnut stock with “MC” hallmark beneath a crown. B.E. Length: 142.5 cm.
