He devoted himself in particular to depicting the great French estates and their gardens, including Versailles, which he explored and engraved with meticulous attention to detail. These views capture the layout of the gardens laid out under Louis XIV, designed by André Le Nôtre, and the prominence given to the pools, groves, sculptures, and water features. The Domes, the Baths of Apollo, and the Enceladus Basin are among these depictions that helped spread the image of the gardens of Versailles in the 18th century.
