"Guy PICHON (1933–2007) Dieppe: Play of Light on the Quays. Oil on canvas, signed lower right. 60 x 72 cm Guy Pichon was born in Cherbourg on May 1, 1933, into a family of shipyard carpenters. A devoted lover of the Normandy coastline, his main influences were Marquet, Derain, and Dufy. From the Pointe de La Hague to Dieppe, he tirelessly explored the region’s landscapes and coastlines: churches and beaches, boats, water, skies, clouds, shorelines with shifting reflections and colors, and small figures barely sketched in the style of Marquet. A member of the Salon des Artistes Indépendants de Paris and the Artistes Indépendants Normands, he regularly participated in exhibitions and art fairs. He died in Rouen in 2007."
