131 - "Marcel NIQUET (1889–1968) *The Bather* Oil on panel, signed lower right. Framed. 31 x 40 cm A member of the Société des artistes rouennais until 1931, Marcel Niquet primarily painted seascapes and landscapes along the banks of the Seine, particularly in Poses, where he was born and lived. A friend of Léon Suzanne, he followed in the tradition of the Rouen School, though with greater diversity in the locations he depicted than most of his colleagues. In this oil painting with bold colors, the artist depicts a bather who seems to be hesitating before entering the water."
