The shell has been visibly repainted in period black. The cork lining is present beneath the shell. The right side features a painted Lorraine Cross, as well as the letters “FFI” in blue, white, and red. Liner made of high-pressure composite materials. Manufactured by Firestone. Canvas liner complete with its drawstring. Laundry Number 0199. Complete leather sweatband. Neck strap present, as well as the leather chin strap. 70% of the original OD paint remains. A Lorraine Cross is painted on the front of the shell, along with the letters “FFI” in blue, white, and red. Note some wear and patina on the helmet. Condition II+. US M1 helmet shell with front seam rim, lot number 698 A, fixed bales, and complete, originally sewn chinstraps. Apparently repainted black during the period, with cork texture remaining. The right side bears a painted Cross of Lorraine and FFI lettering in blue, white, and red. High-pressure composite Firestone liner with complete web suspension and drawstring, laundry number 0199, complete leather sweatband, nape strap, and leather chinstrap. Approximately 70% of the original olive drab paint remains. A Cross of Lorraine and blue, white, and red FFI letters are painted on the front of the liner. Some wear and patina. Condition II+.
