1882 - Collection of Viennese Children’s Books

Collection of Viennese Children’s Books ten volumes from the ‘Gerlach’s Children’s Library’ series, published by Martin Gerlach & Co., Vienna/Leipzig, as well as two volumes by Karl Graesser & Cie., Vienna, all dating from around 1910, mostly with decorative endpapers, some with bookplates of the Linnemann family and a Frankfurt am Main bookseller’s label, all featuring numerous illustrations-some colour lithographs-in the text and/or as plates, as well as original linen bindings or, in one instance, a half-linen binding with decorative embossing on the cover, the book decorations by renowned artists of the Viennese Art Nouveau movement, including fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm, fairy tales by Ludwig Bechstein, *Des Knaben Wunderhorn*, *Till Eulensiegel*, *Die Blume im Lied*, *Rübezahl*, *Münchhausen*, *Die Nibelungen*, *The Nutcracker and the Mouse King*, *German Lullabies*, as well as *Bäckerfranzel* and *Baron Münchhausen*, accompanied by *Schöne alte Kinderreime* (duplicate), by Heinrich Wolgast and Josef Mauder, published by Verlag der Jugendblätter, Munich; these two volumes are slightly damaged, but otherwise in good condition for their age with normal signs of wear; size: 8° small.
