A heavy percussion rifle for the German Navy(?), Suhl, 1855 Heavy, octagonal barrel with a round profile above an inserted rear sight, featuring a smooth bore in 13 mm caliber. Marked on the left side with “1855 – 13” and “C.”; “13” on the tail screw plate. Flat, smooth lock with a crowned “Suhl” above, signed “S&C” below, with “1855” to the right of it, and “5969” below. The opposite side of the lock is made of brass, and the trigger features a (defective) German trigger guard. Full stock made of blackened wood, with iron fittings and a fixed iron ramrod. The brass trigger guard, marked “13,” does not appear to have originally belonged to the stock. The hole for a diopter mount behind the tail screw plate suggests secondary use and possible modifications. Iron parts show rust spots; the stock is worm-eaten; there is a crack in the stock at the breech plate. The hammer does not fit the piston. Length: 115 cm. S&C is mentioned in 1849 in connection with the delivery of 1,200 rifles and 100 pistols to the Imperial Fleet. Condition: II–III
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
