A DWM/BKIW M.11 Pistol of the Royal Dutch East Indies Army (KNIL), 1928 Cal. 9mm Luger, No. 10742, mostly matching numbers including the firing pin and grip panels; the cover plate (“71”) and trigger bar (“83”) are different. Polished barrel, length 10 cm, underside without year mark. Civilian proof marks: crown/“N.” Eight-shot capacity. Six-pointed star on the cartridge case; “DWM” logo on the front joint. Marked “KL” inside a circle on the right side of the trigger guard, likely an abbreviation for “KOL-ONIEN,” indicating the Dutch East Indies Colonial Army. Grip safety. The grip is marked “RUST” with an upward-pointing arrow near the safety lever. The typical brass plaque on the left side of the frame with the military stamp is missing. No coupling bar. The original bluing shows clear signs of wear; there are small rust spots on the frame and the grip safety beneath the grip panels. Small parts are blued. Dark walnut grips with fish-scale checkering, showing signs of wear and dents. Nickel-plated folding magazine with a wooden base, unnumbered. A rare magazine whose original “quick-release” mechanism for removing the base has been removed and replaced with a pinned base. In 1928, the Netherlands purchased an additional 3,800 pistols from Berlin-Karlsruher Industriewerke AG in Berlin, the successor to DWM, for the colonial army. Rare! See Martens, Bas, “The Dutch Luger,” pp. 139 and 164. WBK: Attention—For this gun, we will need to obtain an export license for you, based on your import permit (if required in your country) or through your firearms dealer—more info here Condition: II—
