PIERRE LE FAGUAYS (French School, 1892–1962) Art Deco sculpture in patinated bronze, “Tireuse à l'arc” or “Diana the Huntress,” 1925. Signed on the base. Signed and stamped by the Susse Frères foundry, Paris. Height: 64 cm. A classical deity of hunting and the wild, Diana is depicted here with the avant-garde dynamism characteristic of Art Deco, wearing a light tunic with geometric folds, and balanced athletically on her right foot as she gracefully raises the arm holding her bow, creating a strong linear and upward tension.
